Health and Care Worker Visa 👇

🏢 1. What It Is The Health and Care Worker Visa is a specific type of the Skilled Worker visa, designed for qualified medical professionals to come to the UK to work in eligible roles within the National Health Service (NHS), an NHS supplier, or in the adult social care sector.

This route offers significant benefits, including a faster application process, reduced visa fees, and an exemption from paying the annual Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for both the main applicant and their dependents.

📜 2. Who Can Apply This visa is open to qualified professionals who have a job offer in an eligible health or social care role. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Doctors and other medical practitioners
  • Nurses and midwives
  • Dentists
  • Other health professionals such as pharmacists, paramedics, and therapists
  • Adult social care professionals, such as senior care workers (note: rules for care workers bringing dependents have changed).

The job offer must come from a UK employer that has been approved by the Home Office to sponsor under this route.

🔑 3. Key Requirements The requirements for the Health and Care Worker Visa are similar to the Skilled Worker route but tailored for the healthcare sector. The main criteria are:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): Applicants must have a valid CoS from an approved employer which confirms that the role is eligible for this visa.
  • Eligible Occupation: The job must be listed in one of the specific, eligible health or social care occupation codes.
  • Salary Requirement: The applicant must be paid at least the minimum salary for the role, which is determined by the national pay scales (e.g., NHS bands) or a general threshold, whichever is higher.
  • English Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet the English language requirement, typically at CEFR level B1.
