Charity Worker Visa 👇
🢠1. What It Is The Charity Worker Visa is a temporary immigration route under the UK's Temporary Work visa category. It allows an individual to come to the UK to do unpaid voluntary work for a registered charity.
The maximum stay permitted on this visa is 12 months. It is crucial to understand that this route is exclusively for genuine voluntary activities and not for paid employment. This visa does not lead to settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK.
📜 2. Who Can Apply This visa is designed for individuals who:
- Have an offer to volunteer from a UK charity that holds a valid Home Office sponsor licence.
- Intend to perform voluntary fieldwork that directly contributes to the sponsor charity's core purpose.
- Will not be filling a permanent role or doing work that would normally be paid (such as routine administrative, retail, or fundraising tasks).
🔑 3. Key Requirements To be eligible for a Charity Worker Visa, an applicant must satisfy several key conditions:
- Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS): A valid CoS from a licensed charity sponsor is mandatory. The certificate must confirm that the work is unpaid and voluntary.
- Financial Requirement: The applicant must prove they have at least £1,270 in personal savings to support themselves upon arrival. This requirement can be met if their A-rated sponsor agrees to "certify maintenance" on the CoS.
- Genuine Volunteer: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and genuinely intend to undertake the voluntary work and leave the UK at the end of their visa.
- No English Language Requirement: There is no formal English language test required for this temporary visa route.
